Dreams and Potentials

We took pictures for fun, not for posterity. There are a lot of rooms missing (or were blurry). Somehow, there are no pictures (I can bear to show) of the 4 bedrooms and office. But the pics I do have are the money shots, so it's ok!

Front, dead-on. You can see the upper bedroom level with the vinyl siding; the right section with the kitchen, dining and living room, sided in Roman brick; and the lower left level with the family room (also Roman brick). There is a basement below the living room level.

Another view of the front from the driveway.

The back of the house with the original metal awnings and a walk-out basement/family room to a covered patio. You can see the driveway comes from the street on the right around the back to a carport on the left.

Longer view of the back of the house.

The inside of the front door with the original slate tile floor. To the right of the door is a full-length window with shutters... I'd like to make those go away, but I get the privacy thing.

You can see the built-in bookcase and planter with the floating shelf-thing.

The living room with the palm-leaf wallpaper. The drapes are neat, but I think they are in rough shape.

The dining room teak and brass light fixture.

The kitchen is the only part of the house that appears to have been updated. It has new countertops, new tile floor, and new cabinets.

It has gorgeous GE stainless appliances. I think the last owner was thinking of a 1940s country kitchen, which I guess I can work with. ;)

Amazing blue bathroom with a hint of yellow. The walls are completely tiled.

Original blue tub, toilet, faucet, and linoleum tile.

This is the ceiling of the top floor. It has star-burst acoustic tile and twinkly lights.

Family room bathroom with a shower. How lovely is that floating green sink? (Yes, everything needs to be cleaned.)

Fireplace has desk-like built-ins next to it.

Bedford stone fireplace with vintage spot lights.

The bar-corner of the family room, in front of the bathroom. Notice the built-in planter on the right with that long light fixture and the wood slats. Ok, maybe you can't see them from this angle.

The guest bathroom in pink and grey (even though it looks blue). Looks like I have to buy another pink toilet lid. (Why do people think white lids are appropriate replacements?)

All the carpet needs to be replaced, as well as the roof. There was a pipe-leak in the ceiling over the family room, so after the pipes are repaired, the tiles need to be replaced (thank you, Re-Store, for having vintage acoustic ceiling tiles!). There is probably some updating in the electrical that could happen soon (hopefully can wait a little), but after inspection, we'll know more!

  1. Bathrooms look cool. Grammy and I found that when you wash those cool, old drapes, they turn into tangled string! A free cat toy. Wish I was there to help.
